Happy New Year! Sincerely wishing you the best in this next new year, from our lil’ family farm to you!
We are well underway into 2024. If we are being honest, I am still in the phase of writing both years.. Will get it yet, haha.
Welcome – if you are new or if it has been awhile since you have ventured to this ‘neck of the inter-web’. Ten Lairs Deep is a regenerative farm that specializes in flowers, with a by-product of pasture-raised poultry and NEW FOR 2024 pasture-raised pork! Aaron & I, Melanie, absolutely love the life of farmers – both moving from corporate jobs in 2020 for the rural life in the heart of North America. That is really just scraping the top of our adventure story, more on that to come. For now: WELCOME! Please do feel at home & do not hesitate to reach out or say ‘HI’ in the comments below.

Wanted to dust off the keyboard, stretch the ol’ fingers and see if I can still type without looking at my fingers. As I am writing this, I realize that now-a-days I am not only competing with other folks who can write/blog much better than I, but now also A.I. (Gheesh, I have my work cut out for me to keep your attention, haha.) I am not shaming A.I. or those who use it. Simply putting it out there that our farm is choosing not to. Sorry to say that in this space, you will be getting the education/writings/ramblings/photos/videos of myself, Melanie, or my hubby Aaron and our adventures building our farm.
Enough with addressing the machines in the room, onto what is happening down on the farm!
January really does mean organization, well the first week or so. Which probably makes sense to you why I am getting to writing our first blog post of the year on January 12th, took me a little longer than a week this year to finalize our “plan” for the year. Honestly, even writing ‘plan’ has me hearing God laughing, but we all need a plan to follow regardless of what is to come! I highly recommend taking the time to create a rough plan/outline of the year – helps when ‘burn-out brain’ hits in the busy season of summer – gives you a gentle reminder of what you need to do to keep on task and productive when one may be overwhelmed or caught in the hustle of the summer.

Exhilarated that we are adding pasture-raised pork to sell, along with our pasture-raised meat poultry to what we offer our customers. Pasture-raised pigs are more humanely raised, happier and provide more flavourful meat than their commercial farm counterparts – same goes for our pasture raised poultry. It should be noted that we are a small farm & we do only have so many animals for sale – better to order sooner than later. We are now taking pre-orders – please do fill out the contact form, highlighting your needs & we will get back to you with all the details.
With this new year we decided to give the website a bit of a revamp. We are still tweaking it, but have changed our banner (see below image) & a few other things. Will continue to work on it, so we do appreciate feedback! Also, if you find a link that may not work – please do let us know, as website designing is not our forte!

Honoured to have been apart of such a flawless wedding in the Canadian Prairies this past summer, a wedding film we will not soon forget.
If you have not yet seen the Bray’s wedding highlight film, please do click the video below to give a quick watch. It is near impossible not to smile, even shed a tear, witnessing such a blessed union!
Congratulations again Devin & Beth!
That brings me to FLOWERS! We are now organized and already planting our little hearts out for this upcoming 2024 season. We may be a small operation, but we are expanding again this year. More flowers, Aaron is not surprised – are you, ha!?
Please do follow along via YouTube, Instagram, or over on Facebook. Stay warm in this polar vortex we find ourselves in the next few days!
Melanie
